Recently, Health and Human Services has annouced some big Medicare fraud busts. This one involved a doctor and 78 home health care agencies in Texas, costing Medicare 2.3 million per month.
Data mining of claims helps Medicare (and private LTC insurers) limit the amount of fraud. The doctor accused of the fraud faces a possible maximum sentence of 100 years in jail, which should make current scamsters a little more hesitant to pick the pockets of the Feds.
